Wow, what a difference a year makes!
As I write this month’s message, we are on the cusp of re-opening our state and the city. We are also on the cusp of re-opening our historic clubhouse for members and guests. In fact, we have already hosted two weddings this past weekend!
As we all know, The Ebell is such a magical place for weddings, many young couples have rescheduled their nuptials from last year to this year. As a result, I am thrilled to report that we are booked solid for weddings this summer and into the fall!
These events are providing valuable opportunities for us to bring back key kitchen and banqueting staff and for all the event staff to work through the logistics of resuming our event rental operations. They are helping us determine exactly how to navigate our return to the building for events as well as day-today work. If you are like me, I am sure you, too, are very excited about getting back into the building. However, we want to make sure we do it responsibly and safely so hang in there a bit while we figure it out. I appreciate your patience as we work through how best to return.
We are also on the cusp of making leadership changes. As I reported to you last month, our search committee chaired by Vice President Laurie Schechter and comprised of Board members Janis Barquist, Randi Jones, Madelyn Murray, Donna Russell, Lorraine Spector, Karlene Taylor, Past President Ginger Barnard and Ebell members Lee Braly, Michele James, and Jill Bauman have been been working diligently over the past several months. Though the job is not yet completed, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank them for contributing their expertise and providing their service to the club at this very important point in our history.
Please look out for your membership renewal. I hope you will renew your membership and even recruit a friend. This is an exciting time and The Ebell and I look forward to reporting even more next month!
