We are officially open!
Ebell member, actor, singer and activist Sheryl Lee Ralph graced our historic stage this past Saturday with a stunning performance of her brand new one woman show, Journey to Center Stage, that she wrote in six weeks to debut for our Opening Day.
It was a wonderful event, my thanks to everyone who helped us get to that special day. And, I want to especially thank Sheryl Lee for her incredible generosity of her time and donation to the Ebell. During the Q &A with our Executive Director Stacy Brightman, Sheryl Lee challenged us to use our resources to support young creative artists all across the city.
“I’d like to see us create programs where we encourage writing, speaking, performing, anything to do with the lively arts,” said Sheryl Lee. “I’d like to see us use this campus and its many stages to encourage the arts in Los Angeles.
What a great idea, right? While we get to work on her challenge, I want to invite you to join us Monday, October 25 for our annual Charter Day Luncheon. Yes, we will back at the club for lunch. We will be serving a light lunch such as Cobb Salad and Cookies to limit servers and interaction and we will be following our COVID protocols.
I hope you can join us for this very special day in the Ebell calendar. Did you know that Charter Day is Article II of the Ebell Bylaws states: The 4th Monday of October each year shall be known as Charter Day, commemorating the organization of The Ebell of LA on October 27, 1894.
This year, I’m thrilled to be in conversation with our new Executive Director Stacy Brightman. Together we will explore the history of the club, some of our special traditions and how we are charting our future. I hope you will join us!
It’s wonderful to be back at the club but if you’re not ready to come back to the club, there’s also lots of great opportunities to join us virtually or on field trips. Read on to learn more about upcoming programs.
