THE SHOT: Staged Play Reading | April 24
- This event has passed.
Sunday, April 24, 2022 — 2:00 pm
Based on Robin Gerber’s book Katherine Graham: The Leadership Journey of an American Icon
Nothing stopped the iconic Washington Post publisher Katherine Graham. So what better way to honor that spirit than a rescheduling of our sold-out staged reading of THE SHOT?
Join award-winning actor and Ebell member Sharon Lawrence as she presents a reading of Robin Gerber’s play, directed by Michelle Joyner, produced by Laurie Bernhard and Mary Klinger as Production Stage Manager. Stay with us after the reading for a talk-back focusing on domestic violence survivors.
For more than 20 years, Katharine Graham was a self-described “doormat wife,” secretly enduring years of domestic abuse from her husband. After his suicide, she took over as publisher and CEO of the Washington Post, where she defied the government by publishing the Pentagon Papers, took on Nixon in Watergate, and stunned her male executives who had bet against her success.
Don’t wait to get your tickets, this reading sold out in March of 2020!
