Matthew 13: 24-30: “Let both [weeds and wheat] grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, ‘First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.’”

The teenage protagonist of this dystopian novel struggles through a horrific world of social, cultural, moral, and ecological collapse sustained by her vision of a new world that is at once religious, philosophical, and sustaining. Some will join her new world enclave (like wheat) and others (the weeds) will not, but she believes that someday a better Humanity will reach the stars, metaphorically and in actuality.
