Tuesday, March 16, 2021 — 6:30 pm

Join us March 16 (the 3rd Tuesday) for short stories of Kate Chopin. You’ve read the Southern ‘lit’ of Eudora Welty, Flannery O’Connor, Carson McCullers, Katherine Anne Porter, Zora Neale Hurston, and Kate Chopin? What? You have not read KATE CHOPIN? Me neither, so I look forward to her book, The Awakening and Other Short Stories, available for free online here. Cajun, native Americans, African Americans, LA creoles… engaging characters, they are all there in her fiction, remembered especially for Chopin’s insights into women. Literary critics credit her with being a forerunner of 20th-century feminist writers.
