At this time of year, many of us find ourselves in a quandary regarding holiday gift giving, and too many non-profit organizations are sending requests for donations. We do hope you will consider making an end of year tax deductible donation to Ebell Friends, to help complete our goal of funding the Preservation Master Plan.
A legacy of great vision and generosity has always been paramount in The Ebell of Los Angeles since the inception of our organization. In 1926, nearly 3,000-strong, Ebell members realized an audacious plan to construct a grand new campus on a barely developed stretch of Wilshire Boulevard. The 75,000- square-foot complex with its elegant Italian Renaissance campus and 1,266-seat Wilshire Ebell Theatre, embody the vision and aspirations of Ebell members past and present.
Our campus front portal is adorned by hand-forged wrought iron gates, which are much more than a work of art: they are a symbol of the love and vision of our members. These gates were presented by The Ebell’s charter members from 1894 who were still with us in 1927. These founding Ebell members raised the funds to have the entry created as their personal project and gift for the new building.
Now, it is our turn to continue this legacy of vision and generosity. We are the generation that is called upon to safeguard the next 100 years of our stunning home so The Ebell may serve Los Angeles for generations to come. If you share our love of The Ebell’s historic home and believe in our mission, we hope you will help make it come true with an end of year gift. We have already reached almost 40% of our goal of raising $100,00, and we extend a heartfelt thank you to the generous Ebell members who have already donated to this effort.
