Congratulations to Ebell Member Sheryl Lee Ralph on her first ever Emmy Nomination. Sheryl was nominated for her role as veteran teacher Barbara Howard in the hit ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary.
Last year, Sheryl was our Opening Day speaker and performed, just for us, Songs & Stories from Center Stage, a one-woman show she’s created. The show was recorded and live streamed.
At the time Sheryl told us about Abbot Elementary it had not yet aired. Now a hit comedy for ABC, the role has introduced this amazing actress singer to an even wider audience.
Sheryl was nominated for a Tony award as the original Dreamgirl Deena Jones in the 1981 Broadway hit Dreamgirls.
