OUR MISSION: The Ebell of Los Angeles (The Ebell) is an educational and philanthropic organization founded by women, for women in 1894.  Our mission is to participate in and encourage the educational, cultural, and social growth of a diverse Los Angeles community, as well as conserve and protect our historic clubhouse, grounds, collections and the Wilshire Ebell Theatre.

Current Position Available


Facilities Coordinator

Works with a team of facilities staff with a focus on keeping building in highest-quality condition and maintaining building and grounds as appropriate for a historic landmark. Makes general moves and repairs throughout the property as needed. Performs duties as prescribed by the calendar of events. Able to work irregular schedules weekly, including weekends.

  • Moves and rearranges outdoor and indoor furniture, rugs and artwork for event set-up and filming, as well as day-to-day needs
  • Assists members and staff as needed
  • Maintains, preserves and restores building and grounds by cleaning, painting, handling simple plumbing and electrical repairs, and other related maintenance activities
  • Available daily as needed for all areas on campus including Theatre, venue and offices. Work includes but is not limited to HVAC, floor and tile maintenance, trash, furniture upkeep, landscaping, fire and burglar alarms, restrooms, facilities workshop and office, employee and member offices
  • Notifies supervisors of the need for repairs and/or the need for outside professional help for repairs and larger projects. Works with repair and maintenance vendors to resolve issues.
  • Trained and ready to address security issues and notify supervisor of any incidents
  • Monitors supplies to assure full stock of maintenance inventory, janitorial items, and drinking water for offices.
  • As needed, works with site reps to ensure the careful and proper use of buildings by film and TV production companies.
  • May be dedicated to work/oversee club and special events as needed, working with Special Events, Banquet and Security teams to ensure a successful event
  • Adheres to all company safety program procedures.


  • Proactive in taking care of the campus, identifying needs, and quickly responding when called on radio (walkie talkies)
  • Ability to use power tools and equipment safely
  • Good communication skills with staff, guests, clients and vendors; maintains a strong sense of responsibility and ability to deliver results
  • A keen eye for detail and aesthetic consistency
  • Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, unassisted

Hours: Position is On-Call; schedules vary and employment hours are assigned on a week-by-week basis. Weekend work is required


Line Cook

Reports to Executive Chef and Sous Chef.

  • Responsible for hot food set up and cooking
  • Set up and stock food items and necessary supplies
  • Prepare food items by cutting, chopping mixing and preparing sauces
  • Cook food items by grilling, frying, sauteeing, according to specific recipes and standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage
  • Clean and sanitizes cooking surfaces at end of shift
  • Perform inventory checks and maintains food storage logs
  • Collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff to meet client and executive expectations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stamina and fitness to work long hours in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to use their hands to safely handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Knowledge of quantity cooking skills and standardized recipe metrics.

Must be able to

  • Manage repetitive movements
  • See details of objects that are less than a few feet away
  • Understand the speech of other persons, particularly supervisor(s)
  • Speak English clearly so others can understand
  • Work harmoniously as part of a team in fast-paced kitchen environment.

Education and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years experience as line cook, restaurant cook or prep cook
  • Experience with a variety of cooking techniques and procedures
  • Familiarity with industry best practices
