The Ebell of Los Angeles began providing scholarships to students in Los Angeles in 1919. In the early years it was only for girls and the amount was small. Since those humble beginnings, the scholarship program has grown into two multi-million dollar educational endowments that provides scholarships to women and men attending any accredited two or four year institution in Los Angeles County. The class of 2017/18 has 44 scholars attending 20 different institutions.
The Scholarship Committee meets on a monthly basis. They provide scholarships to college students in Los Angeles County and host two events per year which include a Scholars Award Night in the Fall and a Scholars Breakfast in the Spring. The Scholarship Committee is responsible for managing the Ebell’s endowments in a fiscally responsible manner.
