In an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, America’s first ever National Youth Poet Laureate, Amanda Gorman, who stole the show at the Presidential Inauguraion on January 20 with her poem The Hill We Climb, referenced WriteGirl LA as one of her inspirations as a young poet.
WriteGirl is a non-profit organization in Los Angeles that promotes creativity and self-expression to empower girls. WriteGirl was a Rest Cottage Association grantee for 4 years and received a total of $39,500 from the RCA. Many individual Ebell members also donated notebooks, journals, and stationery to the organization.
